A pet care plan will typically include nutrition, customized vaccine protocols or titer testing, wellness testing, and behavior counseling, among other topics. We look comprehensively at the factors that go into your pet’s health and invite your questions and concerns. People who live with pets understand the impacts that our companions have on our lives.
We’re dedicated to your pet’s health.

If you choose the private cremation service, Hamilton Pet Meadows will return your pet to us in a simple, but elegant box with a plaque with your pet’s name. Once we have your pet’s ashes, we will contact you to see if you would like the ashes delivered, or if you would prefer to pick them up from one of our locations. Please note that some compounded medications must be prepared through specialized pharmacies that serve both human and pet patients. We can recommend and send compounded prescriptions to specialized pharmacies in each of our service areas.

If the antibody level is adequate, we can rely on the pet’s immune system to combat the disease and skip the vaccine at that time. John has over twenty years of experience in the corporate world as a computer programmer, consultant, consulting manager and project manager in a diverse set of industries and government locations. John has been growing and managing House Paws and House Paws Animal Hospitals since 2000. John has learned much about veterinary medicine from Dr. Knode and his own on-going study and is an experienced veterinary assistant as well. House Paws will evaluate your pet’s need for surgery and consult with Dr. Lazar regarding his opinion of the same need. We will then schedule your pet as needed for surgery at one of our hospitals.

We also have capabilities to run blood tests on site at our hospitals for more time-sensitive emergencies. Visit our Emergency Services page to determine if you have an emergency and for contact information for area emergency veterinary affiliates. Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of semi-annual physical examinations (every 6 months) and age appropriate wellness testing with a veterinarian. Thorough check-ups and preventative care can help alleviate serious health problems. Wellness testing includes bloodwork, fecal exams, and urinalysis to catch issues before they become a problem for your pet. Preventing disease and early disease recognition will add quality and years to your pet’s life.

We continue to experience an increase in pet owners missing scheduled appointments. For the time when treating a pet’s medical condition is no longer possible, euthanasia offers a humane ending to a well-loved life for your pet. HousePaws offers euthanasia appointments in the comforts of your home or in our hospital. If a mobile appointment is not cancelled at least 12 hours in advance we will require a cancellation fee equivalent to a travel fee for your area that must be paid prior to scheduling your next appointment. After a second cancellation of a mobile appointment, without 12 hours notice, you will be responsible for the cost of a doctor’s exam for each pet scheduled and the travel fee.

Additionally, in-home appointments can provide our veterinarians with the opportunity to observe environmental conditions that may be related to pet illness. Our Receptionists and Patient Care Coordinators are trained to triage emergencies to help you get the best care needed for your pet. Most things we can handle at home but in some cases we may recommend coming to one of our facilities or going to a specialty center based on the severity of the situation. For laboratory samples that we take at your home, we get pick-up twice a day from the same laboratories that all the local vet hospitals use, which gives us a quick turn-around for results.
There is no right way or wrong way to come to terms with the loss of a pet. Some choose to ‘fill the hole’ left by a companion’s passing by bringing another pet into the family. Some need time and space before thinking about looking for a new pet. In the New Jersey service area, Hamilton Pet Meadows offers resources to help those grieving from the loss of a pet. Clients of Hamilton Pet Meadows have free access to Day by Day Pet Caregiver Support, which includes access to counselors, a 24/7 hotline and chatrooms.
We advocate the highest standard of care possible for your pet and explain why. You may also request medical records by contacting us at the number below or emailing us at We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation.
New modified Curbside Service Policy
We are constantly adding to our inventory of knowledge and equipment to offer you the most effective modern and traditional therapies to treat the extensive range of medical conditions we see every day. HousePaws Mobile Veterinary Service was started in 2010 in an effort to offer high quality veterinary service, at an affordable price, in the comforts of your own home. When you are waiting in your car, we will call you when your pet’s appointment is finished and review the appointment with you. We will then ask you to come into the building for checkout while the technician gets your pet (and any meds that might be going home) ready for discharge. The veterinarian and the technician will both be present for the procedure. Generally, the veterinarian will discuss the decision with you and may do an exam on the pet if he or she is not very familiar with the patient history.
Dr. Knode is passionate that old age is not a disease and that senior pets can do very well if their people are willing to help. A veterinary/client relationship is built on mutual trust and respect. House Paws’ goal is to provide quality, individualized medical care in a timely manner. As such, we strive to be on time for your scheduled appointments and ask the same of you. As a courtesy to you, we provide reminders via email, PetDesk, or a phone call before your appointment. However, you are responsible for remembering your appointment regardless.
We needed to hire more mobile veterinarians to keep up with demand, so we decided to change the business name to HousePaws Mobile Veterinary Service in 2012. GET INVOLVEDHope For Paws has worked tirelessly since its inception 13 years ago to provide a beacon of hope for the rescue cases that seem like a lost cause, rather than one with a happy ending. We love helping animals and we don’t mind working days, nights, weekends and holidays. So many lives depend on us and on our skills to act in the most challenging rescue environments to save injured animals with pressing and complex medical conditions. If we are not quite ready for you at that time, we will call you back and ask you to bring your pet into the building.
Please note that if you wish to make an appointment by phone, we answer calls in the order they are received and spend the time necessary with each caller to get the necessary information for the appointment. If lines are busy, you will be asked if you would like to leave a message. Messages are received as soon as possible after they are left and often within 15 minutes. We strongly recommend you leave a message if you would like to schedule an appointment by phone and our lines are busy. If you live in one our service areas and would like to schedule an appointment, call or text us at the number listed for your area below, particularly for time-sensitive questions or appointment requests. You may also email us at or fill in the form accompanying each service area location.
The former law office was redesigned by my husband, Dr Brad Anderson, with modern surgery, kennel, radiology facilities and a suite of exam and consultation rooms–all with a comfortable home-like feel. Not too long after that, our expanding business in new service areas led to the creation of veterinary hospitals in Atco, New Jersey and Morrisville, Pennsylvania. More recently, HousePaws started mobile service in the Bergen County, New Jersey area. HousePaws started out as Dr Lisa’s Mobile Veterinary Service in 2010, with me and one veterinary technician working from my minivan. After developing a business plan and working with some community business partners in getting over hurdles of funding and incorporation of the new practice, we were on the road! Word quickly spread about what we were doing in the South Jersey area and the business really took off.
